Ms. Mia Will

Owner

The Velvet Chair Hair and Body Salon

7016 Maple St. Omaha, NE 68134

Mia Will

Mia Will, owner of The Velvet Chair Hair and Body Salon at 7016 Maple Street, doesn’t just aim to make her clients look beautiful on the outside. She’s also concerned about how they feel on the inside and their level of self-esteem.

So Will provides a wide-range of services to the clients who come to her salon for hair care, pedicures, manicures and massage therapy in a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. In addition to traditional salon services, she also offers etiquette classes for children and adults, and birthday packages for little girls and women who want “Diva” treatment for the day.

“Many people haven’t been taught the  proper social techniques -  such as  formal and informal dinning etiquette, business etiquette, poise and other skills - to exude their confidence in any social setting,” she said. “My etiquette classes and birthday parties give me any opportunity to pass on such skills to my clients, making them feel good about themselves and enhancing their self-esteem.”

Will, a cosmetologist and former Omaha runway model, is the daughter of Sonia White, who has run Sonia’s Hair Salon in Omaha for 18 years. She grew up in northwest Omaha, and graduated from Marion High School in 1985. From there she attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln for two years, then graduated from Capitol School of Hair Styling in 1989.

Will is also a 1980 graduate of Nancy Bounds Modeling School, where she worked as an instructor before opening the Velvet Chair in October 2001. She has also served as an image/etiquette consultant for women transitioning from public assistance into the workforce through the Greater Omaha Workforce Development program.

Will  will introduce many of her services to the Omaha community at “An Evening of Serenity” being held 7 to 10 p.m., October 4, at the Serenity Hill Mansion Bed & Breakfast, 49th and Ames Streets.

The event will feature massage therapy, facials, manicures, pedicures, body treatments and makeovers. It will also include a drawing for a complete Spa Retreat, valuing $250. The ticket price for the event is $45, which includes spa services, music, hors d' oeuvres, wine tasting, a gift bag and a tour of the mansion. Registration must be made by September 20.

Will said the “Evening of Serenity” is for women who need a retreat from their hectic lives and want to rejuvenate their minds, bodies and souls.

“Most women are so busy taking care of their families that they don’t take time for themselves,” she said. “This event will give them the pampering that they deserve.”
